European Travel Tips

by Liza Hartung

Do not head off on your vacation to Europe without first getting some European travel tips. The topics you need to know range from what to bring (and what you don't need to bring) to where to go and what to do. They include what to take care of before you go, and what to take care of right when you arrive. The most important thing about traveling to Europe is making sure your passport is in order.

Make sure it isn't expired and that it won't expire while you are there. This is what will allow you to get into, and out of, countries. If you have to update your passport, it can take up to two months. You should also have a back-up plan in the event that you should misplace your passport. Make two copies of it before you depart. Leave one with a family member who can fax it or send it if necessary. Leave the other one in one of your luggage pieces, or with a traveling companion.

Some people who are traveling for a few weeks will be temped to bring a ton of clothes. In Europe, you can find laundromats on almost every corner. It will take all of an hour and a half to do your laundry. Sit and read a book or take a walk to a nearby café. You'll likely be carrying all of this on your back, so be kind to yourself and pack lightly.

European Travel Tips for Women

This tip is for the ladies. If you have brand of feminine products that you really like, bring them with you. Living in London for a year and traveling around Europe, I have learned this. You can find these products in Europe, but they just aren't the same.
