Shaved Ice Carts

by Serena Berger

Many people have steady incomes which provide some degree of security for them, though perhaps not as much income as they would like. If you are looking for a way to supplement your income, you might consider opening a shaved ice cart to operate at special occasions and festivities in your area. Even if you only work on weekends, you can recoup a significant portion of your initial investment with just a few events.

Depending on your environment, you can sell shaved ice from as few as three months to as many as eight months out of the year. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and live in a warm climate, you might consider selling shaved ice full time. If you're just looking to make a little extra money in the summer, you will not need as much capital to get started.

Mobile vendors use shaved ice carts or trailers to work fairs and other festivals. Shaved ice carts are not as comprehensive as trailers, but are more than sufficient for working fairs. These carts have ample countertops and storage space for your equipment and supplies.

Setting Up a Shaved Ice Cart

When deciding which shaved ice cart is best for you, be sure that there is insulated storage space for blocks of ice as well as a counter to which you can secure a commercial ice shaver. You should consider where you will place cups and syrups, both those being used and your extra supplies. Your shaved ice cart should be a portable business center which allows you to move to wherever there will be high demand for refreshments.
