College Scholarships and Grants
College Scholarship SearchIf you check your local bookstore, you will find many books dedicated to finding college scholarships. In this day of tuition increases and budget cutbacks, students need to search high and low to find funds for higher education. For many students, the college scholarship search is so overwhelming that they just give up. If you really want to find a college scholarship, you need to start searching early. Many students have found scholarships in their local community. One of the first places to check is your employer or your parents' employers. Many companies pride themselves in giving back to the community. Even some of the smaller companies in your area may offer financial assistance to their employers. These scholarships are often less competitive than some of the other national scholarships out there today. Exploring Your OptionsI know when I was getting ready to go to college, I spent a great deal of time searching for scholarships in my school's career guidance office. This office not only provided me with information about colleges and universities all over the country, but it also provided information about scholarships, grants, and financial aid. The career counselor in your school can provide you with information on deadlines and the entire application process. In addition to finding scholarships, it's a good idea to consider applying for financial aid. Many students whose parents' income exceeds a certain level don't apply for financial aid, and they miss out on funds. If you're short on funds for college, it's important to explore every avenue available to you. ![]() Get all Scholarships articles via
