College Scholarships and Grants
Journalism ScholarshipsJournalism scholarships are available to students on the national level and in most local communities. A career in journalism can be very rewarding, and earning a college degree in this field of study is your first step toward achieving your career goals. Oftentimes, scholarships can help a student afford attending a higher caliber university. If you're a woman interested in pursuing sports reporting, you might want to look into the Women in Sports Media Scholarship Program. This $1,000 scholarship is available to women interested in careers in sports writing, sports broadcasting and sports marketing. The Association for Women in Communications also offers regional scholarships for female students entering college journalism programs. Regional and National Scholarships for Journalism StudentsThere are a number of scholarships available for minority students interested in pursuing careers in the field of journalism. The Asian American Journalists Association offers several scholarships to students who reside in New York. African American students who live in New York can apply for a $500 scholarship through the New York Association of Black Journalists. This organization sponsors the Stephen H. Gayle Memorial Essay Contest, which is open to high school students. The national Scholastic Press Association awards scholarships to students for excellence in several different fields. This organization presents the annual Pacemaker Awards for reporting, photography and even broadcast at the high school level. Earning one of these awards helps to increase your chances for additional scholarship funds, and helps to increase your eligibility for admission to the school of your dreams. There are so many organizations dedicated to the promotion of higher education in the field of journalism that it's impossible to list them all. ![]() Get all Scholarships articles via
