College Scholarships and Grants
Cheerleading ScholarshipsIf you think you have what it takes to become a cheerleader at the collegiate level, you may be able to find significant financial aid for college. Colleges and universities spend millions of dollars developing and maintaining their athletic departments. Football players and basketball players are recruited to help colleges earn national championships. Collegiate cheerleaders can also earn money for their athletic abilities. If you're looking for a cheerleading scholarship, you need to review the athletic programs of several different universities. You need to meet with the cheerleading coach and find a school that meets your academic needs as well as your athletic abilities. If you want to attend one of the higher profile schools, you will need to have extensive high school cheerleading experience. This includes gymnastic training and experience in national cheerleading competitions. Finding Scholarships for CheerleadersIf you compete in national cheerleading championships, you may be eligible for scholarship money. America's Best offers $500 scholarships to the national champion in the "Best Cheerleader" contest. Most college athletic departments offer cheerleaders financial aid in addition to any national scholarships available. You can find out more by contacting your school directly. The unfortunate truth is, most colleges and universities don't offer the same kind of scholarships to cheerleaders as they do to star athletes. Becoming a college cheerleader involves a major time commitment, but many students find it rewarding. The competition is stiff for coveted positions on college squads, and the tryout process can be exhausting, but the rewards include free travel, adventure, and increased self-esteem. ![]() Get all Scholarships articles via
