Culinary Scholarships

by Rylee Newton

If you want to become a chef, or work in restaurant management or other related fields, you may be able to find financial aid for your education. Many people who enter this field have a love for fine food, and have excellent cooking skills. Many students enter culinary college after working for several years in restaurants. These students seek additional education to increase their earning potentials.

The first place to look for aid is with the school of your choice. If you're a high school student, you can speak with a career counselor to find out more about your financial aid options and to help you find the school that's right for you. If you're an adult, and you've already applied to a culinary school, you can contact the financial aid office for advice.

Find Money Online

The Internet offers insight into several culinary scholarships available to students today. The Chef2Chef Scholarship Fund offers aid to students who demonstrate a desire to learn more about the culinary arts. This scholarship is for students who plan on attending an accredited culinary school or institute. There are several $1,000 scholarships available to eligible students.

The James Beard Foundation also provides access and application information for several culinary scholarships throughout the United States. For example, did you know you could earn a $1,500 scholarship to the Art Institute of Colorado for culinary studies? You can even find scholarship information for restaurant management and for weekend seminars.
