Biology ScholarshipsIf you're thinking about studying biology in school, you can expect a world of opportunities waiting for you upon graduation. Biology students work in fields like medicine, botany, veterinary science, wildlife management, environmental sciences, forensics, genetics, marine biology and many, many more. Many undergraduate medical students study biology because it provides the basic groundwork for all kinds of medicine-related careers. US News and World Reports ranked the top schools for graduate level study in the field of biology. The top three schools were Stanford University, Harvard University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. These are three of the most prestigious schools in the country, and admission is very competitive. You can find a number of excellent schools in your community as well. Scholarships through the Department of BiologyOnce you have been admitted to the school of your choice, it's a good idea to contact the Department of Biology to find out if there are any scholarships available to students. For example, the University of Akron in Ohio offers several scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students. You can earn a $450 scholarship if you want to study plant science, or you can earn a $1,750 scholarship if you're a 3rd or 4th year pre-med student with excellent grades. Lander University in South Carolina offers scholarships to new students and students currently enrolled in the Department of Biology. New students can apply for a $500 scholarship from the Alumni Association. Greenwood County high school graduates can apply for the Fuji Scholarship, which is renewable for up to three years. Currently enrolled students can apply for the Lander Science Scholarship Award, the Pilot Club Lifeline Scholarship, and the Nell Henry Award. ![]() Get all Scholarships articles via
