Levels Of Remote Viewing

There are levels of remote viewing, but definitions vary. Remote viewing itself is defined as being separate from other forms of psychic activity because of its basis in, and development from, scientific method. The following three rules define the essential remote viewing protocol. 1. The session deliberately focuses on a specific, not spontaneous, target. 2. The viewer and anyone present in the room with the viewer does not know the target--i.e. double- or single-blind conditions. 3. There is hard data that can be compared to the viewer's impressions. These requirements create reproducible, verifiable results, a goal of science.

With this in mind, however, it should be said that remote viewing as a technique was developed from the existence of related psychic phenomenon, such as clairvoyance and astral projection. It's no surprise that metaphysical concerns, techniques and language have begun to creep back into the lexicon, now that remote viewing has been declassified by the government agencies that developed it and since the technique has become available to the public. Since most teachers of the technique regard the information and ability to perform it as being connected to a universal matrix of energy, energetic approaches to medicine have also become a part of remote viewing.

The most basic level of remote viewing starts with the system developed by the CIA and military intelligence for gleaning information about distant targets. This is coordinate remote viewing and consists of double-blind viewing conditions in which neither the viewer nor the assistant supervising the session knows anything about the target. The coordinates are randomly generated numbers that represent a location. This assures that anything the viewer picks up must come directly from their perceptions, without clues.

Extended Remote Viewing involves some of the same techniques used in the previous example, but the session is longer and the viewer goes in search of information rather than just relying on random coordinates. A conscious entering into a theta brain wave state is a part of the technique and also serves to heighten intuition. Some viewers and teachers consider this a mystical state, where profound experiences regarding the nature of the Self may occur. Other uses for this extended state include using the ability to view conditions in the body, as in medical intuition. Law enforcement may use it to find missing persons or solve crimes. Movement back and forth in time is possible here and scientist, artists and others may find remote viewing helpful to solve problems in their work.
