International marriage agencies are, in a strange way, one of the only bridges between American culture and that of Eastern Europe and Asia. It is the intention of an international marriage service to match Americans (or Westerners in general) with women from countries in the East. These agencies, even the ones that refer to themselves as dating agencies, are focused on people who want to get married. In their eyes, if all goes well, a woman will end up moving from her homeland to be with her future husband in America.

Russia, the Ukraine, and other former Soviet republics are hot spots for marriage agencies. This is due, in part, to the influx of Western culture into those areas over the past two decades. More Russian and Ukrainian women are learning English than in the past, and they are becoming more familiar with Americans, in general. Another reason agencies in these countries have flourished, according to the agencies themselves, has to do with the fact that many Western men consider women from the area to be extremely beautiful and easier to get along with than American women.

The Success Rate of International Marriage Agencies

Any man who uses a marriage agency can contact several women if he chooses to. If one of the women he contacts shows interest, he can continue to correspond with her for as long as they both see fit. For some men, this is seen as a success. They go to the marriage service, but are not necessarily only focused on marriage.

Most people who use an international service are looking for marriage, though. It does not happen for everyone, because there are so many factors involved. However, the marriages made through an international service are far less likely to end in divorce than a traditional American marriage.
