Norfolk Hotels And MotelsNorfolk boasts plenty of hotels and motels from which to choose when visiting the area. While the city is not a major tourist destination, there are still some interesting historical sites and museums worth checking out. Norfolk is also close to some other popular Virginia cities like Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, and Arlington. Maps and general information about the area can easily be acquired online when planning a trip to the area. Shopping in NorfolkThe Waterside Festival Marketplace, overlooking the Elizabeth River, is one of Norfolk's most treasured tourist spots and boasts over 100 shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. This is definitely the best place to start when it comes to shopping in this charming port city. The Marketplace also hosts live entertainment in the center of it all. Most of the sightseeing boat tours depart from the Marketplace arena. The Waterside Convention Center is also located in downtown Norfolk. This massive meeting space is equipped with modern technology and is located in close proximity to all the downtown attractions and accommodations. Hotels and motels in the Waterside area often provide special rates for conventions and conferences; information can be found online. Other worthwhile attractions in Norfolk include Historic Fort Norfolk, which played a major role in the War of 1812 as well as the Civil War. The Battleship Wisconsin and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum are among other important historical sites to be explored in Norfolk. The city has plenty of other attractions to suit all members of the family as well, including golf and amusement parks. ![]() Get all Florida Travel articles via
