Causes Of CelluliteThe causes of cellulite still seem to elude us, although there are some clues as to what brings on this cottage-cheese condition. One thing is for certain, the more weight a woman puts on, the higher the chances are of her developing cellulite. This being said, it is also common for thin women to have cellulite to some degree, so weight is not the only determining factor. It is widely believed that the layout of women's fat structures can add to the appearance of cellulite. The fat structures in a woman's body are situated horizontally, where as in a man they are situated vertically. Therefore, it is believed that this horizontal structure can cause the bumpy appearance of body fat. Furthermore, many researchers believe that cellulite is attributed to the consumption of too much fat, not getting enough exercise, poor circulation, and the collection of toxins in the body, or a combination of any of these factors. It also seems that cellulite appears to be much more common in women over the age of 30, though it can be seen in girls as young as 14. The reason for this is that women gain on average 4.5 to 6.8 kg of fat per decade, which can add to the appearance of cellulite. Furthermore, as we age, our outer layer of skin thins out, making the bumpy fat underneath much more visible. Other Causes of Cellulite in WomenOther contributing causes to cellulite are smoking, excessive drinking which produces toxins in the body, tension, drugs, genetics, and a lack of exercise. Although it is absolutely true that cellulite can affect thin women, it is much more prevalent in women who are overweight or obese. The best defense against cellulite it to exercise regularly, drink in moderation, abstain from smoking, drink plenty of water, and eat a healthy diet low in fat. ![]() Get all Supplements articles via
