Golf Clubs For Kids
Junior WoodsDriving the golf ball is one of the best parts of playing golf. Woods are not just used off of the tee, though. A three wood can be used to go for a par five in two or a five wood could be used to dig a ball out of the rough. When choosing a set of clubs for a child, it is important to take a look at the woods that are included in the set. For children who are very young (three to five), they will likely need just one wood. As the child gets older, the number of woods in the bag should grow. Junior WoodsYou want to make sure that the wood is designed for a child. There are many differences between an adult wood and a wood built for a kid. Children's woods will carry higher lofts than adult clubs. The higher loft makes it easier for the kid to hit the ball off the tee when learning to play the game. A driver for a child will likely have 15 or 16 degrees of loft. The shafts of junior woods are different than adult woods. The shafts on children's clubs are designed specifically for their slower swing speed. The higher flexibility helps the young player get the club square at impact. A shaft that is too stiff will cause a higher probability of errant shots off the tee. Very young players will need just one wood in their bags. As the number of clubs in the bag increases, it may be wise to consider filling it with woods instead of long irons. Long irons are somewhat difficult to hit and are much more difficult to hit than a wood. This is because a long iron will have a lower loft than a wood that could hit the ball just as far. By placing high woods (like a three, five or seven wood) in your kid's bag, he or she will likely benefit with straighter shots and lower scores. ![]() Get all Golf articles via
