DJ Music Source

by Charles Peacock

For DJs, getting your hands on the latest records has never been easier. As the person in charge of keeping the dance floor moving, it is crucial for any DJ to stay on top of the latest tracks and sounds. This can be a time-consuming task, but it becomes a lot easier if you shift your record finding operations to the many online DJ music sources.

Using Internet Music Sources

There are several different types of music sources on the Internet. Which one is best for you depends greatly on your setup. If you're a DJ who exclusively uses digital tracks when you're spinning, you'll want to look for websites that are licensed to sell downloadable tracks. Traditional music download sites can be useful, but they might not always carry the same mixes you need for your purposes. This is why it's best to find a website that is geared specifically to the needs of professional DJs.

If you're a DJ with a traditional turntable setup, there are plenty of websites out there ready to supply all the vinyl you need. Vinyl websites are a fantastic resource, since they make it much easier than it used to be to find rare imports, remixes and special prints. It's no longer necessary to special order obscure records from your local record shop.

Another great thing about online record shops is the way they index their music. Any good website will use multiple style keywords for any particular record, so you can browse among different styles and find tracks that you otherwise may never have heard of. Being able to listen before you buy is also an invaluable resource--one that many traditional record shops don't even offer.
