Astral Defense

by Jeremy Horelick

Many shamans and mystical gurus believe that in addition to our corporeal or earth-bound selves, each of us also has an "astral" self. This astral self can be thought of as a spiritual self that exists on a higher plane, somewhere between the terrestrial world and the heavens. What's more, our astral selves are just as susceptible to attack as are our physical selves.

In cases of astral attack by another spiritual entity such as that of another individual's astral self, a defense may be warranted. Experts in Huna lore and other mystical belief systems insist that with the proper guidance, anyone can stage a strong defense and prevent further attack. But how does one even know that he or she is under attack in the first place?

Symptoms of an Astral Attack

The symptoms of an attack may manifest themselves acutely or chronically, depending on the nature of the assault. Some people will feel perpetually tired or depleted, while others may feel a pronounced spiritual hole in their energy fields. Both types of symptoms point up a collapse of one's spiritual defense mechanisms and call for immediate remedy.

Just how do spiritual healers help victims ward off supernatural aggressors? Some specialize in what's known as soul-retrieval work and ask your permission to access your Higher Self in the process. They may say prayers on your behalf or else delve into your past to help gird up your subconscious for battle. Each healer has his or her own unique practices, though, so your experience is likely to differ from shaman to shaman.
