Advanced Tasers

by Jeremy Horelick

The primary advantage of advanced Taser guns is a higher wattage that's proven to stop attackers in their tracks. Traditional stun weapons use anywhere between seven and 14 watts, which is certainly sufficient to disrupt the neurochemical activity of most ordinary folks. However, this dosage may not be enough to halt especially tough assailants with exceedingly high pain thresholds, which is why EMD (electro-muscular disruption) weapons were developed.

Advanced Tasers that use EMD technology up the current to as high as 26 watts. At that clip, no target short of Superman will get very far, as his muscle tissue will constrict to such a degree that he is rendered completely incapacitated. Nevertheless, there is only minimal risk of administering long term damage. Subjects end up curled on the ground, incapable of fleeing the scene, which is the end goal for most law enforcement officials.

The Power of Advanced Tasers

The shock from an advanced Taser is so strong that it literally overrides the body's CNS and scrambles any messages it attempts to send. There are some combatants who are inured to the effects of a regular stun gun and have even administered shocks themselves in order to practice their resistance. Some criminals believe that withstanding a stun gun is merely a matter of mental acuity and therefore work to develop the necessary mental toughness. Needless to say, this is an incredibly foolish move.

No amount of mental preparation or physical prowess will help an individual withstand the impact of a 26-watt Taser. According to some experts, the take-down rate of such a weapon is higher than it is with a 9mm handgun, which should give homeowners concerned about their safety all the assurance they're looking for. Still, many advanced Tasers use projectiles to bring down their targets and may require cartridge reloading after a single shot. That means you only get one chance per Taser to achieve your goal, so use it wisely.
