Pepper PagersFor an excellent strategic advantage against attackers, consider purchasing a pepper spray pager, which looks just like an ordinary pager. The only difference, of course, is that it houses pepper canisters that are released with the press of a button to keep unwanted company at arm's length. The contents of pepper pagers are every bit as potent as that of standard pepper spray batons or aerosol cans and assure you a quick escape route if need be. The genius of pepper pagers is their easy concealment. To the unwitting passerby, there's no sign that your pager, which boasts the same dimensions of a functional pager, is actually a highly effective weapon. Put it on the table, keep it in your pocket or purse, or wear it on your belt, just as you would your business beeper. Just be careful to keep the two straight. Everyone Deserves a Second ShotOne of the pepper pager's finest features is its re-usability. Whereas Tasers and stun guns often fire retractable electrodes that must be re-gathered after each use, pepper pagers pack several shots into a single canister. While the number of "rounds" varies from pager to pager, it's safe to assume you'll have at least three to five bursts inside your device, each of which is deployed in short half-second or second-long shots. Better still, you can fire your pepper pager with relative accuracy at distances of up to 10 or 12 feet. At closer range, say, five or six feet, your odds of scoring a palpable hit rise dramatically. You may, however, never need to get any closer, as targets 10 or 15 feet away will also certainly stop dead in their tracks after catching sight (and smell) of your weapon. ![]() Get all Home Security articles via
