Flashlight AlarmsFlashlight alarms are perfect for anyone who works night jobs, works alone, or works in remote locations. Night watchmen, mechanics, truckers, and realtors are just a few of those who benefit from having flashlights built into their key rings, even if they don't necessarily need the alarms. By the same token, those who need alarms but not flashlights may still find the extra feature a handy one, for there's no telling what sorts of situations may arise. It may be that you live out in the boonies and commute long distances to and from work. Should your car break down on the side of the road, there might not be sufficient light to see what you're doing under the hood. Or perhaps you're conducting an open house in an unfamiliar neighborhood and don't know exactly where you're going. In circumstances such as these, a flashlight can bail you out of a jam. Good Things Come in Small PackagesYour flashlight alarm will most likely fit right in the palm of your hand, but that doesn't lessen its strength. Pulling the cord on your alarm trips a high-powered alarm that rings indefinitely, at least until the plug is re-inserted. While your flashlight won't give you the same power as, say, a Maglite, it still gives off enough luminescence to light your way along sidewalks and remote streets. At 10 to 15 dollars apiece, flashlight alarms are an affordable alternative to expensive personal security devices. Still, you may feel more comfortable keeping an industrial-strength flashlight in the trunk of your car along with jumper cables and a spare gallon of water. Your key chain light, after all, isn't meant to show you the way home; rather it's designed to give you just enough visibility to see what you're doing or to go summon help. ![]() Get all Home Security articles via
