New York Wedding Services

by Tara Peris

Any bride can tell you that the labyrinth of New York wedding services can at times feel impossibly complex. Somehow, navigating the foreign world of event planning makes the average woman feel more like a rat in a maze than a princess whose big day has finally arrived. Among the myriad decisions to be made, it's hard to know where to begin or how to proceed.

Most wedding resources encourage couples to begin by prioritizing their needs. That is, if you're working on a budget (and who isn't?), you're going to need to think about places where you're willing to make some compromises. Perhaps you don't need the finest paper stock for the invitations or those rare orchids for the table centerpieces. Think about the aspects of the wedding that matter most to you and devote your money accordingly.

Getting Your Priorities Straight

The one place where it never makes sense to scrimp and pinch is with a photographer. It doesn't matter if Uncle Al is good with a camera or your sis has a knack for capturing good candid shots, you don't want to leave your wedding photography in the hands of an amateur. Your photographs are your primary vehicle for commemorating a pivotal life event; you don't want to take chances in the name of saving a few bucks.

Thankfully, New York has plenty of affordable, high quality wedding photographers from which to choose. To the extent possible, evaluate prospective photographers based on their portfolios and let financial considerations take backseat. You want the person you choose to do justice to the hard work that goes into planning and executing the rest of your big day.
