Employee Searches

by Amy Hall

Employee searches, if not planned well, could potentially prove futile. There has to be some forethought if you hope to find highly qualified candidates that will be able to fill your open positions. In other words, simply putting an advertisement in the newspaper is not enough. Should you go that route, you will likely get bombarded with many responses from job seekers who just want a job--any job--to pay the bills.

These responses end up wasting your time, because you may set up job interviews as well as spend time on the phone speaking with the job seeker. Once an interview is underway, you are likely to realize that this person is not competent to handle the job at hand, and you have therefore just wasted more of your time. The only way to really target qualified candidates is to do some strategizing about how you are going to advertise jobs, and where.

Productive Employee Searches

Employee searches that yield positive results usually involve the use of the Internet. With many companies specializing in recruiting and bringing their services to the Web, companies looking for qualified candidates can finally get some targeted help in doing so. It is a simple concept, as job seekers post their resumés, photos, and video clips with the online recruiting company.

Employers post job openings within their companies, with brief descriptions of the required credentials for the job. Each day, employers can search the resumé database, and job seekers can search the new job postings. Both employers and employees should be able to have unlimited access to postings. If limits are set, then it may be time to find a different agency. The company acting as the intermediary can also contact employers and employees when they recognize a potential match. This is the newest and most time efficient way to conduct employee searches, which brings together employers with qualified candidates.
