Golf Clubs For Kids
Children's Golf ClubsTeaching a child to play the game of golf will pay dividends over and over again. The time spent on the golf course with a child can translate into valuable bonding time. The game allows for insight into the character of a child and creates opportunities to teach valuable life lessons. The rules and culture of the game teach patience, honor, and respect of others. Not to mention that the game gets kids off the couch and outside to get some fresh air and exercise! Children's Golf ClubsWhen equipping a child to play the game of golf, it is important to understand that children's golf clubs are different than adult clubs. A child is not as strong as an adult and will have slower swing speeds than what an adult will have. An adult will swing a club around 100 miles per hour while only the most skilled junior will swing around 60 miles per hour. The slower swing speeds of children cause children's golf clubs to be designed with more flexible shafts. A shaft with more flex will aid in the club head getting square at impact, which will ultimately lead to straighter shots. Lofts are higher on golf clubs for children than on adult clubs. Clubs with higher lofts make it easier to hit the ball in the air and on target. Giving a child every opportunity to hit a good golf shot will increase his or her enjoyment and interest in the game. Sets of golf clubs for children will come in different sizes for the varying ages and skill levels. The youngest children will be able to use a small three-club set that includes one wood, one iron, and one putter. As the child grows and the skill level appreciates, you will want to add clubs to the bag. It may be prudent to add clubs with lower lofts, such as wedges or lower irons to the bag instead of clubs with higher lofts. This can help a young player develop a sound short game that will lead to lower scores and increased fun. ![]() Get all Golf articles via
