Smoke Bombs For Sale

by Nicholas Kamuda

Smoke bombs are tactical, diversionary devices that produce a cloud of dense, non-toxic particles that temporarily obscure vision. Many smoke bombs are white, the most light-reflective color, but colored smoke bombs are also available. Tiny, light, and easy to carry, smoke bombs have been consistently used in combat situations for hundreds of years.

Early smoke bombs were simply fireworks mixed to produce a large volume of smoke upon detonation. The art of making smoke bombs has a long, shrouded history in East Asia, where they were often used by ninja to conceal a quick escape. Other firework-based diversionary tools that ninja employed include firecrackers and projectile/spark-launching devices known as oozutsu.

Modern Smoke Bombs

Contemporary smoke bombs have a very different chemical and physical makeup than the smoke bombs that were employed in battles in feudal Japan. Current smoke bombs often employ a redox reaction to evaporate dye, which, upon contact with the outside air, condenses again and appears as "smoke." The particles, which are often extremely fine, can in some cases cover a 40,000 cubic foot area in a matter of minutes.

Different types of smoke bombs will yield various coverage area sizes and dispersion speeds. Some small smoke bombs may barely have enough juice to fill a room with smoke, while larger "professional" models may be able to cover a field in opaque smoke. Others may have highly specified release parameters, such as those used in smoke testing in wind tunnels and other similar applications.
