Pull Caps

by Nicholas Kamuda

Some paintball suppliers have also begun stocking small fireworks. While fireworks may not be considered as regulation paintball equipment, they can add a new dimension of challenge to the game. The setter of the firework can improvise booby traps, rig certain areas of the course, or even use them as diversions.

Smoke bombs are an example of a type of firework that has been used in paintball games for years. Small, cherry-sized smoke bombs that send jets of colored smoke into the air are often used as cover. They can be carried easily, and their quick fuses make them perfect of tight spots.

Larger smoke grenades can be used to lay down a wall of smoke that covers entire buildings or fields. Depending on the grenade, the smoke can cover an area of 10,000 to 40,000 cubic feet in just over a minute. Their versatility and indisputable results make smoke bombs a necessary tool for any serious paintballer.

Using Pull Caps as Booby Traps

Pull caps, like many other small fireworks, can be great props and tools to use during war games, such as paintball games. Often, small fireworks can be rigged to surprise an enemy, or may be planted as obstacles or obstructions. By challenging the trap-setter to think up increasingly tricky traps, and challenging all players to be ever more vigilant, booby traps can help take paintball games to the next level.
