Ninja Grappling Hooks

Though historically, grappling hooks have undergone relatively few design changes over the centuries, modern technology has given birth to lighter, more compact grappling hooks than have previously been available. Generally made of carbon steel, they are much lighter than early iron grappling hooks. Their light construction means that they are supremely portable, and can be carried easily in a small backpack or gear bag.

Many modern grappling hooks also feature collapsible hooks. The hooks, which are also crafted form carbon steel, can be quickly screwed into the base to produce the classic grappling hook design. When unscrewed, the whole apparatus can be easily stowed into a pocket or pouch that is a fraction of the grappling hook's full size.

The four hooks and x-shaped configuration of the traditional grappling hook design allows for the most secure climbing. The four points easily hook over fences, onto small lips at the tops of building walls, and into forks in tree branches. The x-shaped configuration produces the most structural security of any hook configuration.

These modern climbing tools, which are often marketed as "ninja grappling hooks," are perfect climbing aids for a variety of situations. At the base of the hook is a small loop that can be fitted with a variety of different types of rope. The most commonly used climbing rope is manufactured from a tough nylon-based material that has a high weight rating, but allows for a little bit of "give" when climbing.
