Long Term Care Insurance Quotes

by Tara Peris

It's never too early to start obtaining long-term care insurance quotes. Although most of us view extended care as a need that arises later in life, the reality is that almost half of those who need long term care are have not yet reached retirement. No matter what your stage of life, it pays to think ahead and be prepared.

If you haven't thought about long-term care insurance, take a moment to consider how most people navigate the health care system post-retirement. The vast majority of seniors find health care costs so overwhelming that they do one of two things. Either they spend all of their savings securing adequate care, or they give away their money so as to qualify for Medicaid. Either way, the goal is to qualify for federally funded care.

Finding a Better Solution

Impoverishing oneself in the name of health care is no way to live. Moreover, it's not especially effective. A good many nursing homes and extended care facilities do not take Medicaid. Thus, you have a limited selection of health care providers and may have to battle to simply get a foot in the door.

This is the bleak situation faced by millions and millions of seniors each year. The only way to avoid it is to look into long-term care insurance that can offset the costs of medical care. This is not something to be put off until tomorrow, but rather, is something to be pursued now, while you are young and in good health. The sooner you start planning for the future, the more likely you are to find a comprehensive package at a rate you can afford.
