Client DemographicsAny business or organization that provides consumer related services can benefit greatly from maintaining records on their customers and then analyzing this information to develop statistical trends. The collection and subsequent analysis of this type of data is commonly referred to as identifying client demographics and is usually used to pinpoint the prevailing characteristics of the industry's patrons. Once identified, the information can be used to enhance the quality of service that is provided. Developing DemographicsThe first step in developing useful client demographics is collecting the right data. Some of the more popular client demographics are based on age, gender, race, income, and martial status. In addition, those in the medical and rehabilitation community also record information on such things as a particular group's propensity to an illness, their recovery rate, and whether or not the individuals in the group have health insurance. In order to develop effective trends, the client demographics information gathered must be maintained and tracked over an extended period of time. Many organizations have found that retaining and managing this magnitude of data is most efficiently done with software products. In the rehabilitation industry, information on the patient or client's healthcare plan, enrollment and discharge dates, treatment schedules, employment status and recovery progress is often stored in what is called case management software. The final step in developing client demographics involves presenting the data collected in a quantifiable format. This can be done by generating reports, graphs and spreadsheets. Now the information can easily be analyzed to develop statistical trends for an individual or a group of consumers. ![]() Get all Management Software articles via
