Become A Home Inspector

by Sierra Rein

Becoming a home inspector is not just a walk in the park. Training in the field requires careful study, knowledge of real estate technologies, and an understanding of all laws and regulations regarding residential construction. Without this training, an inspection report will be incorrectly filled out, and valuable safety procedures will be lost.

The good news is that proper training can be found from a number of different sources. Many trade school and real estate business facilities offer classes on a regular basis throughout the year. These can provide on-hand training in the classroom and in the field. They can also provide instruction on the most important inspection tools on the market and teach students how to keep up to date on new technologies.

One can also become a home inspector through an online correspondence course. These courses are built to allow students to study and turn their work in on their schedule. Students are sent a set of workbooks, textbooks, study guides, and tools to learn by. All they need to do is log into the school's website and follow the course as if they were in a classroom setting.

Why Should Someone Become a Home Inspector?

A career as a home inspector can be quite a lucrative one, especially if time and money are issues. Freelance home inspectors can set their own hours, build their own businesses, and make money on their own time. On the other hand, major real estate and business firms on a full-time basis also hire home inspectors. Many people who choose to become home inspectors actually start out doing part-time work and end up deciding to take on the career full-time.
