Order Checks Online
Order Checks OnlineThere is absolutely no shortage of online check vendors. A search for "cheap checks" on any search engine yields several pages worth of results, all of which you've got to sift through to find your favorite. This is nothing to be afraid of, though, rather something to rejoice. The seemingly unlimited number of check vendors gives you the power to choose which vendor will give you the best price and the best product. Not a day goes by that I don't get one of those check by mail offers in my mailbox. Most of the time I throw them away, but every once in a while I'll take a look at the different kind of checks. In recent years, along with a phone number, these companies will give you their web address. Even the check by mail companies, who have spent millions of dollars filling our mailboxes with offers, have wised up to the power and draw of the Internet and allow consumers to order checks online. Changes in CheckingThere are all sorts of changes happening in the check industry. With the increasing pace at which Americans use debit and credit cards, checks are in danger of falling by the wayside. Recently a federal law was passed that brings checks up to speed with technology. The law, called Check 21, puts checks back on the map as an efficient form of payment. Another change is the adoption by some retailers of electronic check conversion, or ECC, which runs your check through a reader that captures your check's essential details. These details are then stored in the retailer's database and this is what they use to collect payment from your bank. Once they've run your check through their system, they'll more than likely hand your check back to you at which point you can destroy it, file it, or do with it what you will. With ECC, checks are processed in less time than they were before, but still take a bit longer to process than debit card transactions. Some things, like rent and utilities, you just can't use a credit or debit card for. Here's where checks will continue to be useful regardless of technological advances, that is, barring some radical advancements in financial options. Writing checks also promotes more reasonable and responsible banking. With most checks, each time you write a check, you leave a written record of the money you've spent. This record is bound into your checkbook unlike debit and credit card receipts, which are often stuffed into purses, wallets, and jean pockets never to be seen again. Checking SafelyMaintaining safety with your checks is very important in the fight against identity theft. Be sure to destroy any unused checks from canceled accounts. Completely void any checks that you're not going to use or you've made a mistake on and then tear it up into small pieces. Protecting your money and your identity like this can save you a lot of pain with little effort. You can never be too cautious. ![]() Get all Printing articles via
