Calabasas RealtorsWhen looking for a realtor to help you find your dream home in Calabasas, California, look to the locals for advice. When you visit to assess the neighborhoods in the area, take time to talk with some of the neighbors. They'll be able to tell you who knows the area best and who sells the most houses in their neighborhoods. A busy realtor is usually a good realtor. Word of mouth gets around fast and a good realtor's business can blossom quickly if they produce quick results for their clients. Looking for signs to see whose names are on For Sale and Sold signs can give you a really good idea of who does the most business in Calabasas. A Brief History of CalabasasThe Chumash Indians were the original inhabitants of the area that would become Calabasas. They hunted game and collected acorn and grains for food and even started controlled fires every 3 to 5 years to boost plant growth in the area. With the arrival of Spanish explorers and settlers in the late 1700s, the Chumash were forced out of their native lands. The Spaniards first arrived in expeditions to determine whether the land could be settled. Later, missionaries arrived to convert the Chumash to Christianity. Finally, the settlers arrived and brought with them farming and ranching. They raised livestock and planted crops. The land remained ranching and farming land until the demand for land for homes became so great that farmers and ranchers began to break up their land and sell it as plots for homes. ![]() Get all California Real Estate articles via
