Westlake Village RealtorsWhen looking for a home in Westlake Village, a realtor that is intimately familiar with the northwest corner of Los Angeles County will serve you best. These realtors not only will know a lot about the area, but will know about the surrounding communities as well. This extra knowledge will help you decide whether Westlake Village is the best place for you. Westlake Village is situated between the Simi Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains. This planned community is on the border of Los Angeles County and is centered around a manmade lake that straddles the county line between Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The city's population is around 8,800 people. Westlake Village is known for its affluent residents and the feeling that it's worlds away from the dense, urban setting of Los Angeles. Westlake Village is about 38 miles from downtown Los Angeles and is connected with the city by the Ventura Freeway. People often confuse Westlake Village with the Los Angeles community of Westlake. Westlake Village is an incorporated city in its own right and Westlake is a community within the city of Los Angeles. Westlake Village's HistoryWestlake Village began as a planned bedroom community. In 1966, construction on Westlake Village began around a manmade lake that straddles the county line between Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. In 1981, the city was incorporated. Part of the original planned community lies in Ventura County in the City of Thousand Oaks, but the entire Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area is often treated like one big community. ![]() Get all California Real Estate articles via
