Tungsten Rings

by Christa Gatewood

Tungsten rings are really made from the metal alloy tungsten carbide. This alloy is the hardest metal alloy on the planet. Jewelry fashioned from tungsten is the most durable and scratch resistant jewelry available. Moreover, the jewelry is of substantial weight and strength.

Tungsten rings come in a variety of different styles. Most of the styles are simplistic or incorporate only one design item with flair. A lot of tungsten rings are simple bands with only minimal detailing. The simplicity of the designs accentuate the wonders of this very unique metal. Perhaps the most popular elements of the designs of tungsten rings are metal inlays. A gold or platinum band can be inlaid into the center of the tungsten ring to add another dimension to the design. These metals are not as hard as tungsten, however, so they may be more vulnerable to scratching.

Tungsten Rings Are Increasingly Popular

Tungsten rings are very popular in men's jewelry. The deep gray color and the weight of the metal make these rings very masculine. They can be worn on any finger. Many men are opting to buy tungsten wedding bands instead of gold or platinum wedding bands. Tungsten wedding bands are more original and also more durable. Because men wear their wedding bands everyday, they can be exposed to a lot of damage. Tungsten rings will never show any trauma.

When you buy a tungsten ring, be sure to take an accurate measure of your ring size. You will not be able to have the ring sized because the metal is too hard for most sizing tools. Tungsten rings can be engraved to add a personal touch, but it is a good idea to make sure the ring fits perfectly before you engrave it.
