PLC is an acronym commonly used in many different fields, but in the home automation industry, it typically stands for powerline communications or powerline carrier. UPB is one communication protocol that promises minimal noise interference as compared to X10, as well as simple installation techniques. The technology is a relatively new one on the automation market, but is now offered in a variety of forms from several online vendors.
