Daybed Bedding

by Tara Peris

In order to make the most of a daybed or trundle, one must use proper daybed bedding. The right comforter, pillows, and dust ruffle will go a long way toward helping multi-purpose furniture live up to its full potential. The trick is to look for versatile fabrics and styles that preserve design continuity across multiple daybed roles.

Daybeds are one of the great features of modern interior design. In a housing market that can literally make it seem like walls are closing in on you, the daybed is an elegant and highly functional space saver. It can turn any small space into a very inviting guest room, and it allows office space to do double duty with ease.

Effective Multi-Tasking

The trick is to dress a daybed so that it can fill its multiple roles effectively. If it functions as extra seating in a den or office, you want an arrangement that encourages sitting as well as reclining. Depending on the particular bed frame, this may require extra throw pillows for back support and fewer small shams that take up unnecessary space.

Similarly, you will want to choose comforter fabrics with care. In high traffic areas, it helps to pick durable, low maintenance fabrics that can withstand a fair amount of activity. A good daybed will work overtime as that sought after chaise for reading and lounging and a cozy bed for needed night of R&R. Choose your bedding accordingly and you'll help the daybed go the distance.
