Florida RV Camping

Florida RV camping is a great way for the entire family to enjoy all the beauty that this great state offers. And by whole family, I mean even your furry children. Many, many, many RV camping sites welcome not only two-legged kids, but your four-legged ones, too. Although there are certain restrictions, Florida camping is a great way to holiday without having to leave your dog behind.

Vacationing with Children and Pets

Florida State Parks, in fact, are unusually welcoming to family pets. Nearly 40 of them, located in regions all over the state, allow pets. There are some restrictions, like 6 foot leash laws, and such. But your pet has much more roaming freedom than would be found in a hotel or motel.

Of course, not every place in the State is pet friendly. In fact, Naples and Collier County are well known to have quite restrictive policies. Coral Gables has particularly harsh laws. However, the West coast--above Collier County, as well as the Keys--and in general, the East coast of Southern Florida, are reputed to be very accommodating to pets.

The City of Ft. Lauderdale, for instance, allows pet owners to buy permits for their dogs to enjoy the beaches on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. These permits are very affordable. In many cases, owners may even buy passes just for a day, or a weekend. Call the Chamber of Commerce in the areas you plan to visit--in advance--to find out where the dog friendly communities, lakes, and beaches are located. And, just as you wouldn't travel without your driver's license, so too should you never travel without your dog's medical records. The most pet friendly towns in the world won't let Fido in a public area if you can't produce his rabies vaccinations.
