Class C RV SalesClass C RVs are designed to be ideal for one to two week-long family vacations. Indeed, with their fully equipped little kitchens, comfortable living and dining areas, and separate sleeping areas, Class Cs are a great purchase for a growing family. They're perfect for frequent journeys to State Parks, major area amusement parks, or to visit national monuments like the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, or the Devil's Tower. On the other hand, many people choose to be "full-timers" in their Class C RVs. These folks must practice a strict "no clutter" policy, since the Class C runs around only 10 feet in height and between just 20 and 30 feet in length. Great for a vacation space, but is it great for a permanent home? Nonetheless, many experts on the subject claim that--provided folks travel light--it is possible to live in a large Class C with the same quality one would enjoy in a mid-size Class A. Speaking very generally, Class C motorhomes run between 50 and 100 thousand dollars. Obviously, the more expensive the unit, the more equipped it is. If you're on a serious budget, start with the elemental things like power, hot and cold running water, ample holding tanks for fresh, gray and black water, and easy to operate dump valves. You can always add the surround sound satellite tv later, if you have to. Class C RV Buying TipsThe best time to buy an RV is late summer when dealers want to get the previous year's stock off the lot. Don't be shy about negotiating, either. There are more manufacturers out there of RVs than there are of cars. Use this to your advantage. And finally, rent before you buy, so that you get a sense of how a particular model drives, and how easy her amenities are to operate. ![]() Get all RV articles via
