Mustek DV5500

by Seth Cotterell

The Mustek DV 5500 is one of those gadgets that users either love or hate. I have encountered some seriously nasty reviews of the DV 5500, but I've seen an equal number of reviews praising this Mustek model though I've never experienced any first hand difficulties. Try it for yourself if you want to be sure.

One thing most people agree on is that this digital camcorder does have good picture quality. This is true whether you're using it as a camcorder or for still photos. Movies look and sound authentic and still photos have good color and contrast quality. It does work better as a camcorder than as a digital camera though.

Another of the 5500's good qualities that receives almost universal praise is its LCD screen. It is a swivel screen for easier and more convenient use. It is also much larger than is common digital camera/camcorder devices. It is a very large 2.5 inches and makes shooting home movies or photos a lot more fun. You don't have to squint to see what is happening in the LCD screen and it resists glare fairly well.

Extremely Versatile Mustek DV 5500

One thing the DV 5500 does have going for it is versatility. There is practically nothing this gadget can't do. It can be used as a video camera, digital camera, mp3 player, voice recorder, PC cam, digital camcorder, and SD/MMC card reader. The price is reasonable, so if you're interested in an all purpose toy, this is a good one to have around the house.
