Coffee Of The Month ClubsJoining a group, an association, or a club is, of course, a good way to meet people and enjoy your special interest, whether that's hiking in the mountains, fine cuisine, music, book collecting, volleyball, bird watching, or keeping up with current affairs. What's more, it's a great way to expand your horizons in that special interest. This is especially true when it comes to enjoying coffee. If you're looking around for gift ideas for a friend or client, a coffee of the month club is definitely worth thinking about. I've been researching this sort of thing lately. Being a coffee drinker, albeit a persnickity one, I keep hoping to find a coffee emporium that will deliver a steaming hot foamy cafe au lait to my desk at 5:30 in the morning. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm not holding my breath. But I have discovered the world of coffee of the month clubs. Freshly Roasted Coffee, Two Days to Your Door! There's much to be said for them. Guaranteed, you might want to shop clubs before settling into one. This point, though, leads neatly into one of the first criteria you want to look for--namely, lack of obligation. Coffee vendors, like coffee drinkers, fortunately have similar standards, and won't tie you down, just as Starbucks, for example, will give you your money back (or a coupon) if you complain about your drink. With lack of obligation out of the way, what else do they offer? The basics include your choice of coffees among their selection, ground or whole bean, whichever you prefer, delivered to your door every month. This is fresh coffee we're talking about. That's a second criterion: that the coffee is only 24 or 48 hours in transit from their grinder to your door, home, or office. A third is that the coffee needn't be the same selection from month to month. This, in fact, is one of the bonuses of such memberships. You can choose a "rolling assortment" yourself, or leave in the club's knowledgeable hands. Some clubs will offer a newsletter describing their stock, featured coffees, and related articles. That's a great touch for someone wanting to broaden their coffee palate. All in all, there's really nothing to lose, unless you like waking up on a cold rainy morning to the realization that you've run out of coffee again. ![]() Get all Coffee articles via
