Database Performance
Oracle ScriptsOracle scripts are files that contain data definition language (DDL), which is a database management tool that has the ability to build and update objects in a database. In particular, it can be used to specify the number of rows and columns in a table. It can also be used to manage the location of files and to delineate different storage options. The powerful data management capabilities that are packed into scripts make them ideal for troubleshooting and fine tuning the performance of various Oracle databases. Database administrators (DBAs) can also design customized scripts to locate or create information. However, there are several standard Oracle scripts that the DBA could take advantage of. As an example we can look at the Oracle concurrent managers, which are tools that were developed to process user and application requests. To assist with monitoring the performance of the concurrent managers, Oracle comes preloaded with several canned scripts. DBAs can find these scripts in their $FND_TOP/sql directory. Scripting OptionsDBAs who do not want to use the canned Oracle scripts, have several other options available to them. The first is to compose their own scripts or they could borrow one from the many written by their colleagues and readily available on a variety of websites. Of course, the final option is to purchase the scripts from a reputable third-party vendor. ![]() Get all Database articles via
