Pool Deck ResurfacingIf you have a concrete pool deck, chances are you may need or want to resurface it sometime in the life of the deck. There are a variety of reasons for this which may include repairing and concealing unsightly cracks, restoring a comfortable walking surface, or improving the safety of your pool deck with better skid resistance. Whatever the reason, there are many viable solutions to resurfacing. Steps to Pool Deck ResurfacingThe first step to resurfacing any concrete surface is to clean it thoroughly. Any soils, oils, grease or other stains will have an adverse affect on the proper bonding of your new surface. A pressure washer and a general cleaning agent will work well, but for problem areas, be sure to choose a heavy duty cleaner, and realize that it may take many repeated cleanings to completely remove stains. Repairing cracks is a key second step, and in many instances will be the most time consuming. Properly repairing and sealing cracks is of vital importance to ensure that your newly resurfaced pool deck will look good and be safe for many more years. Crack repair may involve using epoxy fillers and fabric reinforcements. Once crack repair is done and you have a clean, level surface, you have many options. You may choose to apply an epoxy-based coating that can add color to your pool area as well as enhance safety with slip resistance. You may also choose to restore the original color of your pool deck and seal with a clear or high gloss finish. Other options may include concrete overlays such as flagstone, brick, tile, and other decorative choices which can give your pool an updated and modern look. ![]() Get all Industrial Supplies articles via
