Anti-slip Floor Coatings
Slip Resistant PaintSlip resistant paint is a good solution in environments where it is necessary to enhance the safety of walking surfaces but it is not practical to completely replace flooring. Examples of this situation might include large warehouses with concrete floors, laboratories, factories, or garages. Applying slip resistant paint can be an economical and practical solution to preventing serious injury. Slip resistant paints are most often derived from epoxies. Epoxy is an extremely versatile flexible thermosetting polymer that is very durable and can be formulated for a myriad of coating or adhesive needs. It is particularly well suited for slip resistant floor coatings, where durability under high foot traffic is required. Slip Resistant Epoxy Paints: Versatility and EconomySlip resistant epoxy paints are very versatile. They can be applied in various thicknesses, depending on the needs of the application. Most often, they will have sand or some other synthetic substitute either suspended in them or broadcast over them between coats. These abrasive substances give the epoxy a rough texture, significantly increasing traction and friction for non-slip floors. Slip resistant paints have the added benefit of protecting and prolonging the life of the floor over which they are laid. They are easy to apply using simply a roller brush, and usually are very economical per square foot. They certainly are more economical than installing specialized non-slip flooring, and when new floors are not in the budget, they can be the most practical and safest solution. ![]() Get all Industrial Supplies articles via
