Natural Pain Relief
Fibromyalgia Pain ReliefFibromyalgia is a chronic pain illness that results in musculoskeletal aches, tenderness, fatigue and difficulty sleeping. Most commonly, pain is experienced in the back, shoulders, hands and neck. Higher percentages of women are affected by Fibromyalgia than men but can strike any gender or race at any time. The pain associated with Fibromyalgia can hinder work, play, family time or time with friends. The symptoms of Fibromyalgia can be worsened by humidity or coldness, lack of sleep, extreme physical activity, stress or dormant behavior. The fatigue associated with Fibromyalgia can be debilitating, much worse than when someone without Fibromyalgia feels tired. This can be disheartening to Fibromyalgia sufferers, who are likely to feel lazy and unproductive because of their pain. Treating FibromyalgiaThe first step to treating Fibromyalgia can be the most difficult. A drastic lifestyle change is the first and most important treatment for most Fibromyalgia sufferers. Although painful and difficult at first, a lifestyle change can drastically improve Fibromyalgia symptoms. The trick is identifying behaviors that trigger pain and stopping those behaviors. This can be difficult since we all get set in our ways, but the end result will be worth it. Painful activities like stretching and gentle exercise may be difficult and painful at first, but will pay off in the long run because they reduce stiffness and increase muscle tone. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen are common over the counter pain medications used to treat the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Low doses of antidepressants are often prescribed for pain relief and to improve sleep. Lack of quality sleep can be a big factor in the severity of pain and stiffness associated with Fibromyalgia. ![]() Get all Pain Relief articles via
