Mini Chopper Bikes
Gas Powered Mini ChoppersThe latest--and hottest--thing in the world of pocket bikes is the mini chopper. If you're looking to buy a pocket bike, it's no longer necessary to restrict your search to race-style bikes. You can now get mini choppers (even custom-built ones) that look as cool as the real thing. Mini choppers are a great way to enjoy the customized feel of a full-sized chopper without the astronomical price tag that often accompanies them. If you're in the market for a mini chopper, keep in mind that there are very different schools of thought operating here--purists will recommend sticking with an American-made chopper, rather than a cheaper, imported knockoff version. It all depends on the value you hope to get for your money, and the level of customization you want. Features of Gas Powered Mini ChoppersMost gas powered mini choppers feature an engine that is no larger than 49ccs. This means that the bike does not fall under regulatory laws that apply to larger motorcycles and mopeds. That said, they still produce a lot of power. Several mini chopper models can go as fast as 60 miles per hour. You may wonder how realistic mini choppers are in terms of operation and feel. For the most part, they are made to be just like their larger brethren: super fat front and rear tires, pared down styling and construction, and real chrome adornments. Most mini choppers come with a regular five-speed transmission, and even feature hydraulic and disc brakes. Many gas-powered choppers feature both an electric and a kick-start. Some have four-stroke engines, while others have two stroke engines that require mixing gas and oil for proper operation. Keep in mind that mini choppers are usually a bit bigger than regular pocket bikes, so they are only suitable for larger children and adults. Amazingly, they can support adults up to 325 pounds. If you thrill to the designs of Billy Lane and Choppers, Inc., consider investing in a mini chopper to get the level of customization you're looking for without the price tag that goes along with it. Since Billy himself only builds a few choppers a year (focusing instead on new products parts and chopper styles), mini choppers are an affordable option. ![]() Get all Motorcycles articles via
