Pocket bikes have been around for a long time, but they didn't really become a major trend until the last few years. Pocket bikes were originally very expensive and carried high-performance racing engines, but more manufacturers have entered the fray recently and brought the prices down to earth.

Shopping for Pocket Bikes

Pocket bikes used to cost several thousand dollars, which put them up in the range with regular-sized motorcycles. These days, one can be had for only a few hundred dollars. Keep in mind, however, you won't be getting a model that is able to keep up with the high-end racing bikes.

A great thing about the pocket bike phenomenon is that it has spawned all sorts of new mini bike models. You can now buy mini choppers, which are only slightly larger than a standard pocket bike and look exactly like a custom Harley Davidson chopper. Like pocket racing bikes, mini choppers are small enough that your kids can ride them comfortably.

The pocket bike fad has also led to a whole new line of motorized scooters and mopeds. These too can be acquired very cheaply, and they sport some really cool designs. No matter which kind of bike you choose to buy, just be sure you check the local laws in your area to find out if and where you can drive them.
