Water In The Ears
How To Get Water Out Of The EarThere is nothing worse than getting water trapped in your ears. That feeling of blockage can make all incoming noises and words sound muffled, which is both annoying and unpleasant. You may have tried jumping up and down on one foot while gently tapping your head to get the water to come out of your ear canal. Rarely does this work. Perhaps you took a cotton swab and tried to push the water out. Using a cotton swab to remove water only pushes it further in towards your eardrum. Maybe you even put some eardrops in your ears to dry up the trapped water. Sometimes this can help, but it takes awhile to kick in, so you simply have to endure that feeling until the drops do their job. If you seem to get water in your ears easily, perhaps you can benefit from earplugs that seal the opening of your ears and keep the water out. If however, you do find yourself in the situation where your ears are blocked because of trapped water, you do have another option. Hairdryers can actually dry out your ears better than drops or any other remedy you have probably tried. Keep in mind that you must exercise caution because hairdryers can get very hot, and holding a hot dryer over your ear can burn the skin. Drying Your Ears with Ear DryersThere is yet one more option that is similar to a hairdryer but made specifically for the purpose of drying trapped water in the ears. An ear dryer looks similar to an ear thermometer, yet it contains a fan that sends warm, soothing air into the ear canal to dry any trapped water. This process usually takes only a minute, and your ears will be completely dry. An ear dryer runs on a battery and ideally comes with several ear pieces so it can be used for multiple people in a family, without the risk of spreading germs or bacteria. ![]() Get all Hearing articles via
