Standard style time cards are not yet fully a thing of the past, but there are certainly some more modern time attendance systems available to employers. Some of the more popular types of time card systems utilize bar code reading technology to do away with the standard paper time card. These systems are an advancement for a number of reasons.

For one, the bar code style systems allow employees to just have a standard issue ID badge. They don't have to worry about getting a new time card with each new pay period. Additionally, some of these bar code style attendance systems have a number of features that make life easier for those who are in charge of payroll.

The Novatime 1000 SBE, for instance, is a great little bar code reader that has a lot to offer for companies that have 100 or fewer employees. The 1000 SBE allows you to track an employee's current attendance status, as well as account for benefit hours such as sick leave and vacations. It also features a report generator that has export capabilities.

A System for the Larger Companies

Companies that have more than 100 employees still have some great options open to them. There are versions of the Novatime 2000 that can accommodate an unlimited number of employees. The 2000 doesn't sacrifice any of the great features that the 1000 has. It not only has a powerful report generator, but it also has the ability to interface with some of the better known payroll systems currently on the market.
