X10 Control

by Stephanie Dula

Smart home technology, in one form or another, is now commonly used to provide homeowners with the peace of mind that their property is safe. One of the biggest draws for many people to home automation is the opportunity to remotely view certain areas of the house. Cameras can be strategically placed and monitored by homeowners over the Internet or closed circuit television (CCTV).

X10 Security Cameras

Security cameras have long been used to ensure that everything is as it should be in a home or office. They are now common in home automation networks based on the X10 system of control. There are dozens of possibilities for security and peace of mind using smart cameras around the home.

Imagine checking to see who is at the front door without getting up from the sofa. Or, it might be nice to instantly view the front lawn on the television if a strange noise should be heard in the middle of the night. Some people even like to monitor their pets' activities during the times they are at work or out of town.

X10 control has long been used to automate security cameras and other appliances. Smart home enthusiasts like the fact that X10 components are inexpensive and require no rewiring. There continues to be a proliferation of X10 products on the market, even with new technology emerging that strives to correct some of the unpredictability of X10 control.
