Gly Derm

Gly Derm is a skin care line that emphasizes the use of glycolic acids to beautify facial and body skin. Glycolic acids are a form of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which are derived from fruit. Glycolic acids are gentler on the skin and less irritating than some other AHAs. Many products containing glycolic acids are designed to be suitable for daily use.

Gly Derm products contain higher percentages of glycolic acids than most other glycolic acid products. Many Gly Derm products are available over the counter. However, those with the highest percentages of glycolic acids are available only by prescription.

Gly Derm: Clear Skin, Head to Toe

There are two main lines of Gly Derm products, the ones prescribed exclusively by physicians, and the ones designed for home usage. Home usage products contain glycolic acids in five, 10 and 12 percent potencies. Facial products include cleansers, toners and moisturizers. Body products include sunblocks, hand and foot creams, shampoos, body washes and other products specific to delicate skin areas.

Users of many of Gly Derm facial products will typically feel a tingling sensation, which lasts about a minute, followed by a feeling of dryness. This drying sensation is actually the sign that an invisible peeling is taking place, which results in clearer, smoother skin. With diligent use, Gly Derm products promise improved skin appearance, particularly with regard to acne and rosacea. Prices for Gly Derm products range between $10 and $40 per item.
