Publish Manuscripts

by Christa Gatewood

If you have written a number of manuscripts that haven't been bought by trade publishing houses over the years, you may want to think about self publishing. It would be a shame for all of your hard work to come to nothing. You don't have to be one of the select few who are chosen by a trade publisher in order to see your manuscript in book form.

There are a number of different self publishing companies that can produce your book for you. They can even make it available online at a number of different online book retailers. Millions of people will be able to buy your book. Usually you will pay an upfront fee to the publishing company and then they will print copies of your book as necessary.

Dust off Your Old Manuscripts

It's never too late to publish your manuscript. Getting a lot of rejections can cause a writer to abandon a perfectly good manuscript. If you do that, all that hard work will go down the drain. There may not even be anything wrong with the manuscript; it might just have been before its time. Why not pull it out again and give it a second look? You can polish it a little and then put it on the market yourself. You may see that it finds a niche audience.

Don't get discouraged by rejections from major publishers. They only publish two percent of the submissions they receive anyway. The odds are simply not in your favor in that situation. Rather than take "no" for an answer, publish the manuscript yourself. The worst that could happen is that you lose a few bucks, but at least you will never wonder what could have been.
