Learn To Play Golf

by Kevin Little

Learning to play golf can be an immensely frustrating experience. There are so many things to absorb before one ever plays a round that many golfers are easily discouraged by the learning process. Players deal with so many clubs and are offered so many tips that it can be hard to remember just to look at the ball.

For many self-taught golfers, however, greater frustrations are found as one progresses. Some golfers can find their way through a round fairly quickly. When it comes to becoming a truly skilled golfer, however, they find that much of what they have learned is of little use--or worse, their styles and strategies are detrimental to their ultimate goals.

The problems inherent in learning to play golf on one's own are largely matters of technique. The way in which one first swings a driver is not intended to produce a perfect shot; such beginner strokes are, rather, intended merely to get the ball off of the tee. "Make-do" tactics become major obstacles when one beings to understand optimal positioning off the tee, on the fairway or on the green. One finds that one's strokes are simply not suited to advantageous results.

Learning to Play Golf: Professional Advice

Pros such as Tiger Woods have drastically altered they strokes once on tour. Amateurs have the same opportunities when working with professional instructors. While some lessons may make a golfer feel as though he or she is going back to the drawing board, the techniques learned in a professional environment will serve one well throughout one's golfing life.
