Lladro Auctions

by Sierra Rein

Lladro auctions occur on every continent in practically every month of the year. The quickest way to find Lladro auctions is to find online bidders through an auction site. Both rare and common Lladro figures are often placed on auction pages for the highest bidder to buy. Most of these auctions are accompanied by high start bids, insurance fees, and shipping costs to make sure the figurines arrive to their new owners in "one piece."

One can also find Lladro auctions at major art galleries and collectible shops. In addition, private collections are often auctioned off in the event of a death or bankruptcy. Many rare and hard-to-find Lladro pieces can be found at these auctions, although they are usually priced too high for novice collectors.

On a technical level, until 2053, all Lladro auctions should be labeled in the "vintage" category. Lladro pieces will never be considered "antiques" until they turn at least 100 years old. Therefore, even rare first-edition pieces from the 1950s are not considered "antiques" yet. Many novices who put their Lladro figures up for auction often make this misleading mistake.

Watch Out for False Lladro Auctions
Unfortunately, there are many auctions out there that post auctions online with false pretenses. They will usually create false online ID names, post multiple auctions of fake Lladro pieces, and disappear from the online community once the “winning” bidders have discovered the fakes. It is important to perform research on each Lladro auction and ask for proper identification and reference numbers before bidding on any highly priced Lladro figurine.
