Pasadena DJs

by Stephanie Dula

Among various forms of modern event entertainment, DJs remain a popular choice for providing a vast selection of music at an affordable price. A DJ is perhaps the only form of entertainment expected at such a wide variety of functions, from school dances to wedding receptions to birthday parties. Any event can benefit from a little background music for mingling, or upbeat music for dancing.

A DJ's Role

DJs often provide not only the atmosphere at a special event, but act as MCs as well. They may do a half-comedy, half-music routine that includes all the special announcements and important dance numbers, or simply instruct guests when to line up for the food service. Depending on the occasion and personal preferences of the honorees, DJs can be a more or less visible element in the function's events.

Since theme parties and weddings are currently in style in Pasadena and elsewhere, many DJs are hired to play very specific music to go along with the focus of the event. After all, music sets the stage for instant recognition of a particular locale or era in history. For example, an evening wedding with a 1920s theme may call for big band and swing music to be played. Couples may even go so far as to take swing dance lessons for the big night and require that guests dress in era-appropriate attire. Especially if you plan on doing a themed event, you may want to use an entertainment locator service. These services can usually put you in touch with all available local DJs, bands, event planners, invitation printers, and more.

DJs can also easily coexist at the same event with other forms of entertainment that are common today. Hypnotists, magicians, caricaturists are always popular at whimsical birthdays and gatherings, but music remains a universal element at memorable parties. Good DJs with a lot of experience know that there is no one-size-fits-all routine for a special event, but rather a need for versatility in music and performance.
